How to Make Pizza Cat or Taco Cat Greet You From Your Bash Shell

Recently, I was watching a Jenn Schiffer video and she mentioned how she put emojis into her command prompt. It seemed like a fun and quick project so I set up my terminal to randomly show “Pizza Cat” or “Taco Cat”  by adding the code below to my .bash_profile file.

if [ $(($RANDOM % 2)) -eq 1 ]
then
export PS1=”???? ???? ???? Pizza Cat!!! ???? ???? ???? $ ”
else
export PS1=”???? ???? ????  Taco Cat!!! ???? ???? ????  $  ”
fi

It is now weeks later and I am still excited every time I open up my shell prompt so figured it was time to share.
